About the Commercial Hotel
The allotment was created in 1878 and was purchased at auction on 16/5/ 1878 by Henry V Moyle of Kapunda for three hundred pounds. The main hotel building, constructed in 1978 is a substantial two story structure with a broad veranda on the front section.
The hotel was built in two sections from local limestone. A detached limestone building extends along the rear of the allotment, this section comprises a series of rooms which were presumably occupied by employees, and used as store rooms.
The Commercial Hotel, situated opposite the beautiful Murray River in Morgan South Australia has played a very important Role in accommodating workers and visitors to the town, and a place of social activity, which it still is today.
